Dear friends,

Last summer I started a big project — reimagining Mid Modern Mama and what it could be. This had been a long time in coming, honestly. But it was time to really get down to work.

Mid Modern Mama started as a place to chronicle the DIY projects and renovations our family took on when we purchased our home here in Colorado. But I’ve never been a mommy blogger, and we don’t DIY at the speed of light like some bloggers do. I also have ethical issues with decorating and redecorating just to create more content. The consumerism churn just isn’t for me! And I like to shop second-hand (save the planet). So, a few years ago I shifted to teaching gardening — largely on Instagram.

With a slippery social media landscape and an increasingly unreliable algorithmic returns, part of my rebranding and reimaginging efforts included a hard look at communications — where were my energies best used?

After about six months of work — and a lot of feverish nights, creative energy, caffeine, and prayers — here we are. At a WILD REVIVAL.

There will be some big changes coming including a new Substack with weekly content and an option to subscribe for paid content. More on that soon!

And I’m reorganizing lots of content here. When I upgraded this site in November, I encountered some really big technical challenges. While they made life more difficult, I took it as an opportunity to make this website more user-friendly. So that’s the big work that’s going on behind the scenes. More on that soon, too.

In the meantime, here we are in February! Valentine’s Day is coming and it’s time to force some bulbs, too. I don’t start seeds here until closer to the end of the month, but for those of you in warmer climates, you may be thinking about it sooner. So here are a few pieces which might be helpful to you!
